Make the world sound better! We are looking for the best solutions that contribute to this mission. By awarding and promoting innovative sound ideas we intend to draw attention to the effective application of sound.
Our overall criteria for the Awards
Smart, innovative and useful solutions that make the world sound better. The focus is on SOLUTIONS for all kinds of sound challenges from a user-oriented point of view, whereas SOUND is understood in a broad sense.
The International Sound Awards honour the worldwide best works with the “ISAbell” and “ISAbell Grand Prix” prizes. All nominated works will be honoured as “Better Sound 2017”.
1. Corporate Communications
1.1 Ambient Sound
Best concepts for acoustic design in public spaces, e.g. showrooms, offices and working spaces, exhibitions and museums, airports and train stations, hospitals, hotels, apartments etc.
1.2 Audio Dialogue
Best concepts for audio dialogue between people in media. Voice response, Call Management, Telephone Dialogue Systems, Text to Speech Systems (TTS), Speech Recognition, Call Centre, Music On Hold etc.
1.3 Audio Marketing
We are looking for marketing concepts that integrate sound in an essential way. In contrast to audio branding, the sound does not have to serve brand-building purposes. The projects should demonstrate the advantage of an intelligent and innovative application of sound.
1.4 Audio Branding
A separate expert jury consisting of representatives honoured with a Best Practice Case in the Audio Branding Awards 2015, will base their decision on special criteria for the choice of the best audio branding projects of the last three years. 2. Research & Development
Research, Audio Software Development, Audio Hardware Development. We are looking for the best scientific work and developments, that have contributed to the mission „Make the world sound better!“. Studies should be substantially completed. Development should have reached prototype status with proof of concept.
3.1 Acoustic Product Sound Design
All product designs involving non-electronic and completely acoustic (mechanical) product sound. Acoustic Sonification, Acoustic Sonic User Interface, Functional Sounds.
3.2 Digital Product Sound Design
All product designs involving digital or electronic product sound. Augmented Sound Reality, Virtual Sound Reality, 3D-Sound, Sonification, Sonic User Interface, Auditory Display, Functional Sounds.
3.3 Voice & Language
We are looking for the most innovative and intelligent concepts of usage of the human voice and language for media production, announcements, customer approach etc.
3.4 Sound Start-up
We are looking for the best sound business models and services by start-ups.
4. Life & Society
Best concepts for the acoustic design for public spaces in cities, in the countryside and in open nature. Acoustic ecology, Acoustic Ecological Archaeology, local sound marks.
We are looking for the best sound concepts to enhance health and well being.
4.3 Universal Design
Best sound design concepts for products, services, buildings and environments, that contribute to inclusion and accessibility, as well as to the enjoyment of life through aesthetic expression.
4.4 Social & Culture
Intelligent and innovative sound projects, that make an important contribution to culture and society.
We are looking for the best concepts for the protection and preservation of silence, as well as intelligent and innovative application in products, services, interaction and communication etc.
5. Aural Architecture
Innovative and intelligent concepts for design in and by means of architecture.
6. Sound Art
Best sound art projects, that contribute to our mission „Make the world sound better!“ with intelligent and innovative concepts.
