Welcome Emma Rodero as jury member of ISA2017

Besides her expertise in sound and radio, Emma is a specialist in the field of voice. She will judge all cases in the category Voice & Language.

Emma Rodero is a researcher and professor in the Department of Communication at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain), Ph.D. Communication, Ph.D. Psychology, Master in Pathology of Voice and Master in Psychology of Cognition and Communication. Rodero has more than 20 years doing research about sound, radio, and voice. She obtained a Marie Curie fellowship (European Union) to conduct research in the USA about cognitive processing of radio commercials. She is author of more than ten books and fifty scientific papers about sound and radio. Rodero has published scientific papers in top journals about the best strategies to use sound (sound effects, music…) in radio commercials. Rodero usually teaches Public Speaking and Sound Advertising at UPF. She has over a decade of experience in the radio industry. She is currently a voice-over artist and has received awards for some audio dramas.

 

Welcome Martyn Ware as jury member of ISA2017

We are very pleased to present the first jury member of the International Sound Awards: Martyn Ware. We will announce more members in the days to follow.

Born in 1956 in Sheffield, UK. After leaving school worked in computers for 3 years, in 1978 formed The Human League. Formed production company/label British Electric Foundation in 1980 and  formed Heaven 17 the same year. Martyn has written, performed and produced two Human League, five BEF and nine Heaven 17 albums. As record producer and artist has featured on recordings totaling over 50 million sales worldwide – producing Tina Turner, Terence Trent D’Arby, Chaka Khan, Erasure, Marc Almond and Mavis Staples, etc. Founded Illustrious Co. Ltd. with Vince Clarke in 2000 to exploit the creative and commercial possibilities of their unique three-dimensional sound technology practice in collaboration with fine artists, the performing arts and corporate clients around the world. He also lectures extensively on music production, technology, and creativity at universities and colleges across the world.

As the initiator of the International Sound Awards, the Audio Branding Academy aims to draw more attention to the relevance of sound in modern everyday life. With the increasing digitization in all areas of our lives, audio has experienced an enormous boost. More than ever we need to ask ourselves how we want to shape our auditory environment.

The best concepts and solutions for a conscious application of music, sound and silence will be awarded the International Sound Award trophies, the ISAbell Winner and ISAbell Grand Prix on the 21st September during the Reeperbahn Festival. All nominees will be mentioned as “Better Sound 2017”.

Audio Branding Awards 2017

For the fifth time the Audio Branding Academy will honour the world’s best Audio Branding Cases – after venues in New York, Oxford, Moscow and Berlin, the ceremony will take place in Hamburg for the first time. The Audio Branding Academy’s events are a known institution within the audio branding branch. More information on previous Audio Branding Awards events can be found here.

ISA – International Sound Awards and Audio Branding Awards 2017 at Reeperbahn Festival

Make the world sound better! We are looking for the best solutions which contribute to this mission. By awarding and promoting innovative sound ideas we intend to draw attention to the effective application of sound.

We’re pleased to be continuing our partnership with the Reeperbahn Festival. After a successful first year at Reeperbahn Festival in 2016, the Audio Branding Academy is returning in 2017 with an expanded programme of events, including the first joint awards ceremony for the ISA – International Sound Awards and the Audio Branding Awards, to be held at Gruenspan on September 21, 2017.

The motto of the ISA – International Sound Awards is “Make the world sound better!” This new award will honour the best and most innovative audio concepts and sound solutions. Award categories range from sound architecture to audio branding to digital sound applications and sonic user interfaces. Submissions will be accepted between 23 March and 24 May 2017.
This year will mark the fifth time the Audio Branding Academy is recognising the world’s best audio branding case studies with the ABAWARDS – Audio Branding Awards.

A series of workshops on 20 September and a trade fair during the day on 21 September complete the Audio Branding Academy programme at Reeperbahn Festival 2017.

On Wednesday 21st, the Reeperbahn Festival 2016 opens its doors. It is considered one of the worldwide most important meeting points in the music scene. The Audio Branding Academy in cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival organizes four workshops around the topics basics of audio branding, copyright and trademark law, sound of electro mobility and product sounds of the future.

Panel “Brand Sound Follows Function”

At Academy Day 2016 on September 21st, the Audio Branding Academy in cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival organizes four workshops around the topics basics of audio branding, copyright and trademark law, sound of electro mobility and product sounds of the future.

On September 22nd at the panel Brand Sound Follows Function the workshops speakers Markus Bodden, Reinher Karl and Cornelius Ringe will discuss the impact of digitalization and latest technological developments on brand sound design. They will answer questions like “What could be the new strategies and which expertise is required to face the sonic future?”

The panel will be moderated by Prof. Thomas Görne, Professor for Audio Design and Audio Systems at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.

Academy Day 2016

After five years of hosting events overseas the Audio Branding Academy is going back to its Hanseatic roots. This year’s Academy Day will be held in Hamburg in cooperation with the Reeperbahn Festival on 21st September where several workshops will take place.

The Reeperbahn Festival is considered one of the worldwide most important meeting points in the music scene. It is not only Germany’s greatest club festival, but it also hosts the international music and digital economy conference NEXT. The Academy Day will complete the range the conference offers with half day workshops on topics such as: audio branding, copyright and trademark law, sound of electro mobility and product sounds of the future.

Included in price are: access to all conference sessions (keynotes, talks, panels, workshops), to the Reeperbahn Festival Lounge and to the Reeperbahn Festival’s password secured delegates database.

ABAWARDS 2015 Interview: Olaf Hartmann

Olaf Hartmann is a pioneer and visionary of multisensory marketing. As an inspiring speaker, author and entrepreneur he can refer to convincing examples from research and experience. He turns current findings of neurology, behavioural psychology and sensory research into successful marketing. Olaf first started his career in international advertising; he has been a lecturer at the institute of business administration of the university of St. Gallen for seven years, created the first agency specialized on haptic sales promotion in 1995 and is founder and managing partner of the Multisense Institute for multisensory marketing.

At the Audio Branding Awards 2015 in Berlin, Olaf Hartmann gave a keynote lecture with the title ‘The Power of Multisense’.
